A series of storm systems will move across Southeast Texas, bringing the potential for significant rainfall totals. My forecast indicates widespread amounts of 2 to 4 inches, with isolated areas north of I-10 potentially receiving over 7 inches. Because we expect multiple rounds of rain, the ground will become saturated quickly, increasing the risk for runoff and street flooding. In addition to the heavy rain, some storms on Tuesday night to Wednesday morning could be strong to severe, capable of producing hail and strong wind gusts. Please stay weather aware this week and ensure you have multiple ways to receive weather alerts. Our weather app is a great place to start.

Round #1 Tuesday night to Wednesday morning:

While we have a 40% chance of a pop-up thunderstorm throughout the day, the main line of storms arrives Tuesday night.

10pm – the cluster of storms is in our northern cities.

The cluster of storms is in our northern cities (Copyright 2026 by KPRC Click2Houston – All rights reserved.)2AM Wednesday:

The storms have reached the coast and many of us have been awaken by the rumble of thunder.

Storms make it to the coast line (Copyright 2026 by KPRC Click2Houston – All rights reserved.)6AM Wednesday early ride to work:

As we start the day widespread rain greets us. It ranges from light, moderate to heavy. Be ready for a slow go.

Widespread rain for the early ride to work (Copyright 2026 by KPRC Click2Houston – All rights reserved.)9AM Wednesday we’re almost done for the day:

The last of the rain is late morning. Most of this should be light. The rest of the day looks rain free. If there is another disturbance that arrives late in the day, we’ll let you know.

Light rain, this should be the end for the day (Copyright 2026 by KPRC Click2Houston – All rights reserved.)Rain totals for round #1:

The range is from a 1″ to 3.5″ to fall. Remember this is only round one.

Totals through noon Wednesday (Copyright 2026 by KPRC Click2Houston – All rights reserved.)Round #2 Thursday:

This is where the timing gets tough. Because we are tracking small areas of low pressure, called short waves, they usually don’t show up on our micro cast models until 24 hours out. So, for now the general timing is Thursday afternoon. The important thing to keep in mind is we have another street flooding threat.

The highest threat is northwest of Houston (Copyright 2026 by KPRC Click2Houston – All rights reserved.)Round #3 Friday:

Similar to Thursday the timing and placement of the storms is unknown. But with the pattern we have, another flood threat is with us. If I had to give you a time I’d say late morning to early afternoon. Please check back for updates to the timing.

All of SE Texas has a street flooding threat (Copyright 2026 by KPRC Click2Houston – All rights reserved.)Saturday through Memorial Day Monday:

There is a chance of storms and heavy rain every day through Memorial Day.

A chance of storms every day.
