An East Plano mother is desperate for the public\u2019s help identifying a strange man she says has been sneaking up to her young daughter\u2019s window, trying to get a peek inside.<\/p>\n
Home surveillance video shared with NBC 5 captured the latest alleged intrusion this past weekend, which is now part of a police investigation.<\/p>\n
When a strange man kept popping up near her home, Nedra Bounds assumed he was simply a drunk cutting through her neighborhood alley.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s people walking down our alleys drinking,\u201d she said. \u201cThat\u2019s pretty normal.\u201d<\/p>\n
Then there was the time she said they heard jingling coming from near the alley and discovered a man near the back of her home.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis guy stood up and his pants were unzipped,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
And then they noticed a stack of loose bricks belonging to her neighbor suddenly appeared underneath her daughter\u2019s bedroom window.<\/p>\n
Odd, she thought.<\/p>\n
Bounds said things took a disturbing turn when her daughter came out of her bedroom and told her, \u201cThere\u2019s a man standing at my window.\u201d<\/p>\n
The same stranger, Bounds insisted, has been repeatedly creeping up to her 13-year-old daughter\u2019s bedroom window at night over the past few months.<\/p>\n
The latest alleged incident, she said, happened on a rainy Saturday night.<\/p>\n
Bounds said she filed a police report, providing the report number to NBC 5, and has long taken steps to increase her daughter\u2019s safety.<\/p>\n
She\u2019s added a floodlight and a surveillance camera, which finally captured the alleged perpetrator.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve closed off the window, we\u2019ve blocked her in every way we can, blinds, curtains, all of it,\u201d said Bounds. \u201cWe put up every deterrent. The thing we need help with is to get this guy to stop.\u201d<\/p>\n
NBC 5 confirmed Saturday night that the Plano Police Department is investigating the alleged incident. Plano detectives said they received a still image of the man and are looking for him as a \u201cperson of interest\u201d for \u201csuspicious activity.\u201d<\/p>\n
In a previous brief confrontation between the same man and her brother, Bounds said the man only spoke Spanish. She said she feels frustrated because she’s called the police multiple times, and the man has yet to be identified.<\/p>\n
\u201c[Police told us] that we needed basically to figure out who he was and start posting around the neighborhood, and that\u2019s where it got frustrating to me and I took to Nextdoor,\u201d she said. \u201cI feel like the onus of the investigation has been on me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Posting the man\u2019s photograph on Nextdoor led neighbors to rally behind Bounds.<\/p>\n
One neighbor gave her a new idea for stopping the man: chili powder and Sriracha sauce on her daughter\u2019s windowsill.<\/p>\n
\u201cI did it instantly because he\u2019s always stumbling and drunk. It\u2019s dark, he can\u2019t see the windowsill, so if he stumbles on it, we know he\u2019s been caught with his pants down, and if he\u2019s doing what we think he is doing \u2026 it\u2019s a deterrent,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Perhaps the perpetrator will return and end up begging for help, she said, hoping: \u201cHe screams, we call the cops and they come get him if the plan works, because this is all I got.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bounds made it clear she is prepared and ready to protect her family inside their home in case the visits escalate to an attempted home invasion.<\/p>\n
\u201cThen I\u2019m going to do what I have to and I\u2019m prepared for that inside,\u201d she said. \u201cThat\u2019s why I\u2019m not worried about our safety. I\u2019m just irritated we\u2019re here.\u201d<\/p>\n
She said she is not angry at the police, but something\u2019s got to give. As a domestic abuse survivor who had to find a way to escape a dangerous situation on her own, Bounds said she understands the limitations and challenges in cases like this.<\/p>\n
\u201cI know how the system works and I know what I\u2019m supposed to do now, and I feel like I\u2019ve done what I\u2019m supposed to do and I feel like it\u2019s not working,\u201d she said. \u201cShe\u2019s not safe. I\u2019m doing everything I can to keep her safe, but I can\u2019t take care of him. I need help with that. I feel like I\u2019m not getting the help I need with that, and I feel like I\u2019m not getting help with that, and it\u2019s overwhelming \u2026 I\u2019m living my worst nightmare.\u201d<\/p>\n
