CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 City leaders shared new updates on a planned skate park project during a Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone, or TIRZ #2, meeting.<\/p>\n
The discussion comes nearly seven months after board members approved $700,000 toward the project.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, officials presented a partial design layout, financial updates and a projected construction timeline for the park.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are looking at construction beginning January of 2027 and we are crossing our fingers we will be able to use it summer 2027 of June,\u201d one official said during the presentation.<\/p>\n
The future park is being designed for people of all ages and skill levels, including skateboarders, scooter riders and bicyclists.<\/p>\n
City leaders said one of the main goals of the project is to provide a safe outdoor space for children and teens while helping keep them off busy streets.<\/p>\n
Exact operating hours for the park are still being discussed as planning continues.<\/p>\n
