Students across Lubbock ISD\u2019s 26 elementary schools who ended the year with no absences were entered for a drawing. Two students, a boy and a girl, at each school were then picked for the special prize.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">LISD Superintendent Kathy Rollo said it\u2019s important for kids to be in school every day they\u2019re able to be in school and this is a way to incentivize that.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWhen students are absent or have chronic absenteeism they miss out on learning and it\u2019s really hard to fill in those gaps when kids are absent a lot, so this is just a way to support learning for students,\u201d Rollo said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">This is the 10th consecutive year the Rotary Club of Lubbock has led this project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">KCBD News Director Matt Ernst is a member and serves on the board of directors of the Rotary Club of Lubbock.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 KCBD.
