{"id":302140,"date":"2026-05-20T23:45:23","date_gmt":"2026-05-20T23:45:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/302140\/"},"modified":"2026-05-20T23:45:23","modified_gmt":"2026-05-20T23:45:23","slug":"txdot-funding-agreement-to-help-upgrade-14-signals-across-bellaire-intersections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/302140\/","title":{"rendered":"TxDOT funding agreement to help upgrade 14 signals across Bellaire intersections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tBellaire City Council approved a roughly $222,000 grant <a href=\"https:\/\/bellairetx.new.swagit.com\/videos\/388323?ts=0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">May 18 <\/a>from the Texas Department of Transportation for a project to improve 14 signals throughout the city.<\/p>\n<p>About the project<\/p>\n<p>Improvements will include installing new LED signal heads, backplates with reflective borders and flashing yellow arrows at major highway intersections, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/bellairetx.civicweb.net\/document\/271786\/_p%20style=_text-align_justify;__Ordinance%20author.pdf?handle=94DF6368AAEF418F87CCD9A8F42B3DAB\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">agenda item.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The project is part of TxDOT&#8217;s Highway Safety Improvement Program, which requires that 90% of project costs be paid through federal funding. The estimated total construction cost is $247,096, with state funding covering $222,386. The city&#8217;s 10% contribution will amount to approximately $24,710.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a great initiative,&#8221; council member Ross Gordon said. &#8220;We get the state to pay 90% of the effort to improve our traffic signals, which is very important.
