SUNLAND PARK, N.M. (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 Sunland Park Police are investigating two separate shooting incidents that occurred on Monday. <\/p>\n
The first incident took place on Ashwood Drive near Santa Teresa Elementary at approximately 3 a.m. <\/p>\n
A hospital in the El Paso area alerted law enforcement about a patient with gunshot injuries potentially linked to an event in Sunland Park. <\/p>\n
Officers responded to the scene and discovered an active crime scene. The victim, a female, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and is in critical condition. The suspect in this case has been taken into custody.<\/p>\n
The second incident occurred on Palma Drive near McNutt Road at around 4 p.m. <\/p>\n
A spokesperson for the city of Sunland Park said officers found a male victim with gunshot injuries upon arrival.<\/p>\n
Despite life-saving efforts by the Sunland Park Police Department and the Sunland Park Fire Department, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. A suspect has been detained, and the investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n
Both cases are currently under investigation, and suspects have been apprehended, ensuring there is no active threat to the community.<\/p>\n
