Lake Travis, Rouse and Wimberley all won Game 1 of their best-of-three regional finals series Wednesday in the UIL high school baseball playoffs.

Here’s the roundup for Central Texas:

Lake Travis 3, Cedar Ridge 2

Cooper Webb isn’t exactly sure what he figured out on the mound to get out of a bases-loaded, no-outs jam in the fourth inning.

But whatever it was, it played a big part in Lake Travis’ win over Cedar Ridge in the opener of an all-Austin area Class 6A Division I series at Concordia University.

With the Raiders seemingly poised for a big inning, Webb sandwiched a lineout to right field around two strikeouts.

“I really just had to dig deep,” said Webb, who struck out 10 and will play at Texas next year. “I’ve done a lot of mental training over the offseason, and through the years we do a lot of it in the fall. And it came in clutch.”

RBI singles from James Tudor and Nelson Molina highlighted the Cavs’ three-run third, which also included CJ Hansford’s sacrifice fly.

Kai Rice tripled and scored on Jake Shoemaker’s sacrifice fly for Cedar Ridge in the bottom of the third, then Paul Hernandez Jr. hit an RBI single in the fourth to bring the Raiders within a run.

But Webb allowed no more damage in the inning and finished retiring nine of the final 10 batters he faced.

Hansford threw a flawless seventh, striking out two, for Lake Travis to earn the save.

“Would you expect anything different (than a tough game) in a regional final?” Lake Travis coach Ryan Rogers said. “(Cedar Ridge) always plays tough. They had competitive at-bats and made (Webb) work. But for him to get through six innings was huge. And then CJ came in there at the end and shut it down. The dynamic duo kind of did it again for us and got us Game 1.”

Game 2 is 7 p.m. Thursday back at Concordia.

Rouse 2, Boerne Champion 1

Jacob Sainz tossed a complete game with five strikeouts, scattering four hits, and Liam Mongold ripped a two-run double to lead the Raiders in a Class 5A Division I series. Mongold’s clutch hit came in the bottom of the second after the Chargers put across a run in the first.

Wimberley 5, Floresville 1

Gentry McGinnis threw a complete game with seven strikeouts and helped himself at the plate with an RBI single and Jayden Hall belted a two-run double to pace the Texans in a Class 4A Division II series. Wimberley scored all five of its runs in the fifth, with Alex Abrusley and Cannon Couch both hitting run-scoring singles.

Lake Travis, Rouse and Wimberley all won Game 1 of their best-of-three regional finals series Wednesday in the…

[6
15541,2143,109813,109812,61190,81007,9442,109814,27,29,28,2167
post-302582","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-texas","tag-cedar-ridge","tag-central-texas","tag-championship-series","tag-concordia-university-texas","tag-cooper-webb","tag-inning","tag-lake-travis","tag-regional-finals-series","tag-texas","tag-texas-headlines","tag-texas-news","tag-wimberley
["GET
