Information in this column was gleaned from Port Aransas Police Department records and interviews with department personnel. Everyone charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n

Tuesday, May 12<\/p>\n

2:46 p.m. People running a golf cart rental business did inventory and noticed a cart was missing. They then checked security video and saw a person driving the cart away. The video was turned over to police, but officers couldn\u2019t identify the driver.<\/p>\n

4:36 p.m. After getting a report that someone in a pickup truck was doing donuts and driving fast on the beach, police cited a man on charges of willful and wanton disregard and having no auto insurance. The incident occurred near Marker 23.<\/p>\n

8:10 p.m. A 23-year-old man was taken to a hospital by ambulance after he hooked himself in the leg with a fishing hook on the beach near Marker 2.<\/p>\n

11:56 p.m. The EMS responded to the 2200 block of State Highway 361 and took a woman to a Corpus Christi hospital after she fell and couldn\u2019t get up.<\/p>\n

Wednesday, May 13<\/p>\n

6:17 p.m. Police received a report that a person who\u2019d been fired from a business on Cotter Avenue was calling employees and making threats.<\/p>\n

10:27 p.m. A 70-year-old Port Aransas man was arrested on a public intoxication charge in the 400 block of South Alister Street. Thursday, May 14<\/p>\n

11:30 a.m. Someone accidentally backed their car into another vehicle in the 400 block of West Avenue G. No one was injured. The parties exchanged information.<\/p>\n

2:51 p.m. An elderly woman fell from a golf cart and sustained road rash in the 300 block of West Cotter Avenue. She was taken to a hospital.<\/p>\n

9:55 p.m. A motorist failed to stop for \u201ca while\u201d after an officer tried to pull him over for having a defective headlight and taillight, a police spokesman said. After the motorist \u2013 a Port Aransas man \u2013 finally pulled over in the 900 block of State Highway 361, he was arrested on a charge of drunken driving.<\/p>\n

Friday, May 15<\/p>\n

12:22 a.m. A 60-year-old woman with a severe cut to one finger was taken by ambulance to a Corpus Christi hospital. No information was available on how the injury occurred.<\/p>\n

11:15 a.m. An e-bike valued at $1,400 was reported stolen from the 2900 block of South 11th Street. It hadn\u2019t been locked up.<\/p>\n

12:54 p.m. A person reportedly was using a torch to get rid of unwanted plants and accidentally caught the wall of a condominium building on fire in the 3000 block South 11th Street. Firefighters extinguished the blaze.<\/p>\n

3:25 p.m. A 5-year-old child who had been found wandering in the 100 block of Palmilla Beach was reunited with a parent.<\/p>\n

4:08 p.m. A \u2018swimmer in distress\u2019 was pulled from the water by Surf Rescue lifeguards near Marker 6, an EMS spokesman said. The swimmer was fading in and out of consciousness. EMS took the person to a Corpus Christi hospital and was discharged two days later.<\/p>\n

7:26 p.m. An e-bike was reported missing from the 200 block of Dunes Way. The bike, which reportedly was worth $1,600, later was recovered at Marker 10, but no suspect was found.<\/p>\n

Saturday, May 16<\/p>\n

11:37 a.m. A golf cart and another vehicle collided on Avenue G, causing the cart to fall onto its side. Everyone involved refused medical treatment at the scene.<\/p>\n

4:06 p.m. Fishing gear worth $220 was stolen from an RV space in the 5600 block of State Highway 361.<\/p>\n

4:48 p.m. Firefighters responded to a trash can fire on the beach near Marker 1.<\/p>\n

8:40 p.m. An ambulance was dispatched to the 400 block of Beach Street after a man fell and cut his head there, but he was gone when the EMS arrived.<\/p>\n

10:57 p.m. Police responding to a report of a disturbance at a bar in the 200 block of North Alister Street arrested a 26-year-old Corpus Christi woman on suspicion of public intoxication. She reportedly had been yelling at customers. When security made her leave, she kept trying to push past them to get back into the establishment.<\/p>\n

Midnight A 46-year-old Corpus Christi man was arrested on charges of assault and public intoxication in the 100 block of Beach Street after his 25-year-old son accused him of hitting him during an argument.<\/p>\n

Sunday, May 17<\/p>\n

10:10 a.m. A man went to police and said he was assaulted and dragged out of a Port Aransas bar by several security employees for no reason the night before. When police asked him why security would have done such a thing, he said it might have been because he took off his shirt while he was at the bar.<\/p>\n

1:27 p.m. A 25-year-old San Antonio man was given citations for disorderly conduct and assault after he was accused of cursing at an employee and spitting on her at a pool in the 200 block of Coastline. The incident reportedly occurred when employee told the man he was breaking the posted pool rules by bringing a cooler into the pool area.<\/p>\n

Monday, May 18<\/p>\n

3:56 a.m. A 26-year-old man suffering from heat stroke in the 600 block of Lantana Drive was taken to a hospital.<\/p>\n

10:37 a.m. After police got a report that a man had stolen a baseball cap and ran out of a store on Avenue G, officers found a man matching his description and found that he not only had the cap in his backpack but also was in possession of an electric bike that had been stolen in Robstown. Police released the 45-year-old Wichita Falls man to the EMS because he said he had pain in one arm and was having trouble breathing. Theft charges reportedly will be filed later.<\/p>\n

7:15 p.m. A person was taken by EMS to a hospital after he fell off a scooter at Cotter Avenue and Tarpon Street.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Information in this column was gleaned from Port Aransas Police Department records and interviews with department personnel.
