{"id":303887,"date":"2026-05-22T02:45:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-22T02:45:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/303887\/"},"modified":"2026-05-22T02:45:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-22T02:45:08","slug":"stolen-food-truck-leaves-local-veteran-fighting-to-save-his-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/303887\/","title":{"rendered":"Stolen food truck leaves local veteran fighting to save his business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">SAN ANTONIO \u2013 A food truck owner is fighting to keep his business alive after his truck was stolen from a storage facility.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cThey just didn\u2019t steal a food truck,\u201d owner Evan Dominguez said. \u201cThey stole a piece of me.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Dominguez, who is an Army veteran, spent three years saving up to launch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/profile.php?id=61580714135383\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/profile.php?id=61580714135383\">Evan\u2019s Taste of Heaven<\/a>. It\u2019s a food truck that has traveled across South Central Texas. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cWhatever you like, I make,\u201d Dominguez said with a laugh.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Dominguez said he had been storing the truck temporarily in a storage center near Palo Alto College while waiting out a stretch of rainy weather. He last checked on it in late March.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Then, he got a phone call that changed everything.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cThe storage unit called me on May 9,\u201d Dominguez said. \u201cThey said, \u2018Are you working on your food truck?\u2019 I said \u2018No, ma\u2019am, the food truck is in the storage.\u2019 They\u2019re like, \u2018No, your food truck\u2019s not here.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cMy heart just dropped,\u201d he said. \u201cEverything (was) just gone.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">KSAT obtained the incident report from the San Antonio Police Department. The department has since put out an alert for the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Despite the loss, Dominguez is pushing forward, raising money online and hosting an in-person fundraiser at Rooster\u2019s Icehouse in Lytle this Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cIt means a lot to me that they\u2019re helping out,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">San Antonio police are still searching for the stolen truck.
