Donations of new box fans will help seniors and families stay cool during the South Texas summer.<\/p>\n

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 The Salvation Army is asking the community to help reach its goal of collecting 500 fans during its annual Beat the Heat Fan Drive.<\/p>\n

Organizers said the drive is only a little over halfway to its goal with just over a month remaining before donations wrap up at the end of June.<\/p>\n

The campaign collects new 20-inch box fans to be distributed to seniors, families, and individuals who need relief from the intense South Texas summer heat.<\/p>\n

Officials said every donated fan can make a difference for residents struggling to stay cool during the hottest months of the year.<\/p>\n

Fans can be shipped directly to The Salvation Army Family Store at 5042 South Padre Island Drive or dropped off at 1804 Buford Street in Corpus Christi.<\/p>\n
