<\/p>\nThe Texas State Aquarium opened Ocean Odyssey, a new indoor discovery center where kids can explore wildlife rescue through hands-on play.<\/p>\n
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 The Texas State Aquarium is kicking off the summer season with the grand opening of Ocean Odyssey, a new indoor Children\u2019s Discovery Center designed to combine hands-on fun with marine education.<\/p>\n
Families filled the new attraction as children explored interactive exhibits, climbed through play structures and stepped into the role of wildlife rescuers in training. Aquarium leaders say the new space was created to inspire curiosity while teaching visitors about animal care and conservation efforts along the Texas coast.<\/p>\n

One of the center\u2019s featured attractions allows children to scan a stuffed animal and view an X-ray image of a real aquarium animal before taking on the role of a veterinarian or veterinary nurse.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat we\u2019re really excited about is a feature where you can take a stuffed animal, scan it, and an X-ray of an animal that actually lives here at the aquarium will pop up,\u201d an aquarium representative said. \u201cKids can play to be a veterinarian or veterinary nurse. There\u2019s also engineering activities in there, so there\u2019s a lot of fun and educational opportunities at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ocean Odyssey also includes slides, climbing features and interactive learning stations focused on marine wildlife rescue and rehabilitation.<\/p>\n
Aquarium officials say the new discovery center supports the organization\u2019s larger mission of conservation and animal care. Leaders added that every admission ticket helps fund the aquarium\u2019s wildlife rescue program, which treats thousands of sea turtles and other marine animals every year while supporting their long-term care.<\/p>\n
The Texas State Aquarium hopes the new attraction will give Coastal Bend families another educational activity to enjoy throughout the summer months.<\/p>\n
