Paxton

“John Cornyn is a good man, and I worked well with him, but he was not supportive of me when times were tough,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post announcing the endorsement.

Menefee vs. Green

Another closely watched Houston-area runoff is unfolding in Texas’ newly redrawn 18th Congressional District, where U.S. Rep. Christian Menefee and longtime Congressman Al Green are battling for the Democratic nomination.

The race has drawn national attention partly because it pits one of the Texas delegation’s newest members against one of its longest-serving incumbents. And the runoff emerged after Texas lawmakers redrew district boundaries, effectively forcing the two Houston-area Democrats into the same race.

A recent University of Houston Hobby School poll found Menefee leading Green 50 percent to 43 percent among likely runoff voters.
Green, who has served in Congress for two decades, has campaigned heavily on his civil rights record and seniority in Washington. Menefee, meanwhile, has positioned himself as part of a newer generation of Democratic leadership.

With Paxton vying for a U.S. Senate seat, State Sen. Mayes Middleton from Galveston and U.S. Rep. Chip Roy will be battling it out in the Republican runoff, while State Senator Nathan Johnson and former Galveston Mayor Joe Jaworski will be going head-to-head for the Democratic nomination.

A Hobby School poll released earlier this month found Parker leading Plummer by 18 percentage points among likely runoff voters.

The race has largely centered around public safety, infrastructure, flooding and the future direction of county leadership in one of the nation’s largest counties.

With primary runoff elections set for tomorrow, all eyes are on who Houston-area voters will choose to represent…

[7
1836,1704,56,58,57
post-307951","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-houston","tag-chronnews","tag-chronstaff","tag-houston","tag-houston-headlines","tag-houston-news
["GET
