{"id":307990,"date":"2026-05-25T14:26:13","date_gmt":"2026-05-25T14:26:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/307990\/"},"modified":"2026-05-25T14:26:13","modified_gmt":"2026-05-25T14:26:13","slug":"warm-memorial-day-ahead-of-more-active-weather-tuesday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/307990\/","title":{"rendered":"Warm Memorial Day ahead of more active weather Tuesday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) -This week is bringing a little bit of everything to the South Plains: warm afternoons, increasing humidity, a few isolated storms to start the week, then a more active stretch of showers and thunderstorms Tuesday and Wednesday. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"Highs today\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/YZKGY3ACTNFHDGAM6PAK2PONZU.PNG\" width=\"980\" height=\"593\" \/>Highs today(KCBD)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Memorial Day temperatures will climb into the upper 80s to near 90s this afternoon under a mix of sun and passing clouds. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Southeast winds will stay fairly light for most areas, and for much of the day the atmosphere should remain relatively stable thanks in part to an upper-level ridge. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">That stability is important because it will likely keep coverage limited today. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"Rain chances today mainly isolated to the west\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/VNP2BA7ZSNBRLPI4YTPHB76JLM.PNG\" width=\"980\" height=\"559\" \/>Rain chances today mainly isolated to the west(KCBD)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A few isolated storms may still develop late this afternoon and evening, mainly west of Lubbock and closer to the Texas-New Mexico state line. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Most will stay dry, but if a storm drifts farther east it could bring brief heavy rain, lightning, gusty wind, and some small hail. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"Off and on rain chances this week\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/WYIC2BVBKFC37J7BEXJE53ESSQ.PNG\" width=\"980\" height=\"543\" \/>Off and on rain chances this week(KCBD)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A pattern change will arrive Tuesday with more widespread showers and thunderstorms. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A stronger disturbance is expected to move overhead during the afternoon and evening.
