Calallen<\/a> had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn’t miss a beat now that it’s playoff time. They beat the Davenport Wolves<\/a> on Thursday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. Considering the Wildcats have won 27 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday’s blowout was nothing new.<\/p>\n Collier Carroll<\/a> tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn’t given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.<\/p>\n On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Drayton Mitchell<\/a>, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That’s the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Rusher<\/a>, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.<\/p>\n Calallen hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in seven consecutive games.<\/p>\n Calallen has been performing incredibly well recently as they’ve won 26 of their last 27 contests. That’s provided a nice bump to their 35-2 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10 runs. As for Davenport, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-9-2.<\/p>\n The teams didn’t have to wait long for a rematch: Calallen beat the Wolves by a score of 16-6 on Friday.<\/p>\n
