{"id":311982,"date":"2026-05-28T05:54:27","date_gmt":"2026-05-28T05:54:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/311982\/"},"modified":"2026-05-28T05:54:27","modified_gmt":"2026-05-28T05:54:27","slug":"canutillo-isd-approves-new-positions-as-part-of-district-restructure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/311982\/","title":{"rendered":"Canutillo ISD approves new positions as part of district restructure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 Canutillo ISD trustees unanimously approved a district restructure plan Tuesday night as the district prepares for the 2026-27 school year.<\/p>\n<p>The plan deals with staffing changes, employee classifications, work calendars and grant funding, according to a presentation given during Tuesday\u2019s board meeting by Canutillo ISD Chief Human Resources Officer Martha Carrasco.<\/p>\n<p>The presentation is included below:<\/p>\n<p>During the presentation, Carrasco laid out 20 positions included in the restructure approved by trustees. <\/p>\n<p>The positions include eight teachers, one Davenport Elementary assistant principal, six special education aides, three autism teachers, one speech language pathologist and one college, career and military readiness coach, according to the presentation.<\/p>\n<p>The district\u2019s presentation listed about $2 million in additions overall, with some costs covered through grant funding.<\/p>\n<p>The presentation showed $447,281 in grant-funded credits, bringing the adjusted total impact to about $1.56 million.<\/p>\n<p><p>Jordan Salas reports on Canutillo ISD approves new positions as part of district restructure (Credit: KFOX14)<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>A separate savings slide listed more than $1.2 million in estimated savings from retirements, separations, reallocated positions and grant reclassifications.<\/p>\n<p>The district said the plan is meant to help align staffing with student needs while also preparing for next year\u2019s budget.<\/p>\n<p>Trustees were still expected to discuss some other personnel items behind closed doors Tuesday night, including the proposed reclassification of the Executive Director of Finance position to Chief Financial Officer and the proposed Executive Director of Secondary position.<\/p>\n<p>The presentation listed the proposed CFO reclassification at $19,996 and the proposed Executive Director of Secondary position at $139,281.
