EL PASO, Texas (KFOX 14, CBS4) — Fight week is officially underway in El Paso with just three days remaining until MVPW, where Stephanie Han will look to make the third defense of her world title in a highly anticipated rematch against Holly Holm.

Fans got their first look at the fighters on the stacked main card during Wednesday’s public workouts. The event will feature four world title bouts, headlined by Han facing the former boxing and UFC champion Holm. The public workouts were especially meaningful for Han as they were held inside her family’s gym.

“This is home,” Han said. “I literally live five minutes from here. This is going to be memorable for me and one of the highlights of my life.”

Han closed out her workout by bringing young martial artists into the ring with her, making it a memorable night for the WBA world champion.

“I love kids,” she said. “Kids are the future. Thank you El Paso for coming and supporting. It truly means the world to me.”

Han defeated Holm in their first meeting by unanimous decision after the fight was stopped due to a cut on Han’s forehead. Now heading into the rematch, Albuquerque native Holm says she is more motivated than ever as she prepares for another shot at the title.

“It trained hard for the first fight and took it serious, but I feel more dialed in for this fight,” Holm said. “Not just because I got to feel her in the ring. That is part of it, but in my own focus and my own mind. I am in tune right now.”

In the co-main event, seven-division world champion Amanda Serrano will face Cheyenne Hanson for the unified featherweight championship. Serrano, widely considered one of the greatest fighters of her generation, will also be chasing the all-time female knockout record on Saturday night.

“The goal Saturday night is to win,” Serrano said. “If the knockout comes it comes. I feel like it can come. I have the skills, the power, and the IQ to go get that.”

Rounding out the historic card, unified middleweight champion Desley Robinson will defend her titles against Mary Spencer, while Lourdes Juarez takes on Yokasta Valle for the WBC junior flyweight championship.

Fans hoping to attend the event in person will need to act quickly, as only a limited number of tickets remain available through Ticketmaster.

[12
138,140,139
post-312079","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-el-paso","tag-el-paso","tag-el-paso-headlines","tag-el-paso-news
["GET
