The Houston Texans selected WR Lewis Bond in the sixth round of the NFL draft. What are his 2026 and dynasty fantasy outlooks?

Sixth-round receivers rarely have successful fantasy careers. Parker Washington (2023) is a recent exception. But in general, fantasy managers have avoided them entirely. The seven WRs drafted in the sixth round in 2021 are all retired now after combining for 100.2 points. Among all retired sixth-rounders drafted since 2003, their average career fantasy point total is only 113.

Bond has the potential to be fantasy relevant — if not now, then perhaps later this decade if he plays in a thinner receiver corps. Collins, Higgins, Jaylin Noel, and a healthy Tank Dell presumably occupy the first four spots on Houston’s depth chart. Collins has two years remaining on his deal, and Higgins and Noel have three. Dell might have to look elsewhere when his contract expires after this season.

So yeah, barring widespread injuries, there might not be room for Bond to shine until at least 2029. But he’s an intriguing prospect after breaking Zay Flowers’ Boston College record for most career receptions. He’s doubly intriguing when you consider that he wasn’t invited to the NFL Combine. In other words, there haven’t been as many eyes on him in recent months. We know that he’s a terrific route runner who’s had to play with different QBs and different coaches. Yet he’s persevered.

We will know in the next three months whether he looks NFL-ready remotely. If he does, then he would be a deep-league name to watch if a couple of Texans wideouts are ever sidelined.
