D\u2019Angelo, the Grammy-winning R&B artist with a silky voice and moves that entranced a generation, died Tuesday. He was 51.<\/p>\n

D\u2019Angelo died from pancreatic cancer<\/a>\u00a0in New York City, TMZ reported.<\/p>\n

The \u201cReally Love\u201d artist, whose legal name was Michael Archer, won four Grammys<\/a> despite a significant hiatus in his musical career.<\/p>\n

A Virginia native, he burst onto the scene in 1995 with his debut album, \u201cBrown Sugar,\u201d which was followed by the tremendous success of his second album, \u201cVoodoo,\u201d in 2000.<\/p>\n

That release included the smash-hit single \u201cUntitled (How Does It Feel)\u201d and its famously suggestive music video<\/a>. The song peaked at No. 5 on the charts, and D\u2019Angelo earned a Grammy for Best Male R&B Performance.<\/p>\n

But shortly afterward, D\u2019Angelo left his music career behind and retreated to a more private life. However, his talent never went away. When he returned in 2014 with \u201cBlack Messiah,\u201d the album was hailed by critics as a masterpiece and earned him two more Grammys.<\/p>\n

Prior to his death on Tuesday, D\u2019Angelo\u2019s pancreatic cancer diagnosis was not publicly known.<\/p>\n
