A Corpus Christi police officer was shot during a struggle in the 2100 block of Airline Road on May 29, according to an online post from the Corpus Christi Police Department.<\/p>\n
At 3:38 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area in reference to a customer at a store threatening other people inside.<\/p>\n
Upon arrival, police made contact with 26-year-old Adan Martinez, the police department post said. After dialogue was exchanged, officers reported Martinez refused to cooperate and attempted to flee.<\/p>\n

While police tried to grasp Martinez’s hands, a round went off from a firearm Martinez was concealing, the online post said.<\/p>\n An officer was struck by the round and transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not life threatening. No other injuries were reported. The police department did not disclose the name of the officer.<\/p>\n Martinez was transported to the City Detention Center for booking and was charged with aggravated assault against a peace officer and resisting arrest with a deadly weapon, the police department post said.
