Brittany and Devin\u2019s Angels<\/a>, an organization founded by Tiffany Lilly-Essix that focuses on mentoring and life skills for young people.<\/p>\n\u201cThere\u2019s kids that need it, there\u2019s families that need it, and sometimes they\u2019re too ashamed to reach out and ask for it,\u201d Lilly-Essix said.<\/p>\n
Lilly-Essix says the nonprofit relies on community donations to keep its programs going.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe rely solely on the community support for donations,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The organizers say 10% of participating vendors\u2019 proceeds will be donated to the selected nonprofit.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m just glad to partner with Ashley and all the other food trucks to be able to give back to our cause,\u201d Lilly-Essix said.<\/p>\n
Ashley Zubia, organizer of Food Truck for a Cause, says the event began as a way to help feed people in need and has grown into an easy way for the community to support local nonprofits.<\/p>\n
\u201cMaybe we don\u2019t have the time or maybe we don\u2019t have all of the effort that we can commit to helping the nonprofits, but this is a great way to do that and still show support for the community,\u201d Zubia said.<\/p>\n
Zubia says even a small purchase can make a difference.<\/p>\n
\u201cKnow that your purchase is going to support the kids in our community,\u201d she said. \u201cThese kids need to see that the community is behind them. This is a really easy way to help out.\u201d<\/p>\n
