Major wide releases included &#8220;Michael,&#8221; which has grossed nearly $340 million domestically, and &#8220;The Devil Wears Prada 2,&#8221; which has brought in more than $209 million, according to Box Office Mojo. Other top contributors included &#8220;Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu,&#8221; &#8220;Mortal Kombat II,&#8221; &#8220;The Sheep Detectives,&#8221; and the horror film &#8220;Backrooms,&#8221; which marked Cinemark\u2019s biggest horror opening day of all time.<\/p>\n<p>                                            &#13;<br \/>\n                                                <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wfaa.com\/assets\/shared-images\/icons\/arrow-circle-down.svg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>                                            &#13;<br \/>\n                                                This story continues below.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are proud to have achieved an all-time high May box office, driven by a compelling slate of releases from our studio partners, strong moviegoer demand for larger-than-life, cinematic experiences and our team\u2019s outstanding execution to maximize the opportunity,&#8221; said Sean Gamble, Cinemark President and CEO.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond ticket sales, the local theater giant also reported record-breaking food and beverage results, including its highest-ever per-person spending for the month of May.<\/p>\n<p>Gamble noted that the momentum reflects a healthy interest in the theatrical experience, particularly among younger moviegoers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Audiences are showing up for a wide range of content, with particular strength in younger moviegoers, resulting in impressive performances across blockbusters and varied small- to mid-tier titles,&#8221; Gamble said.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nSummer preview                    <\/p>\n<p>The company looks to maintain this momentum with several highly anticipated upcoming releases, including:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Toy Story 5&#8243; \u2014 June 19&#8243;Supergirl&#8221; \u2014 June 26&#8243;Minions &amp; Monsters&#8221; \u2014 July 1&#8243;Moana&#8221; \u2014 July 10                    <\/p>\n<p>Cinemark recently announced the return of its popular <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfaa.com\/article\/news\/nation-world\/cinemarks-summer-movie-clubhouse\/507-7db870d0-f7fc-45da-94dc-7cad680a4360\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Summer Movie Clubhouse program<\/a>, offering affordable tickets to select family-friendly movies.
