SEOUL, June 1 (Yonhap) — Samsung Electronics Co. plans to relocate the headquarters of its U.S. subsidiary from New Jersey to Texas later this year, industry sources said Monday.<\/p>\n

The company recently notified employees of its decision to move the office from Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, to Plano, Texas.<\/p>\n

The relocation comes just a year after Samsung Electronics moved its U.S. headquarters from Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, to the nearby Englewood Cliffs.<\/p>\n

“We are preparing for the relocation with the goal of completing the move within this year,” a company official said on condition of anonymity. “After a thorough review, we will finalize plans for headquarters operations and workforce allocation.”<\/p>\n

About 1,000 employees currently work at the Englewood Cliffs headquarters, and most are expected to be reassigned to the new headquarters in Plano, while a small number will remain in New Jersey to support local office operations.<\/p>\n

Industry observers said the move is aimed at enhancing synergies across Samsung’s U.S. businesses, including its semiconductor and consumer electronics.<\/p>\n

Texas offers several advantages over other regions, including favorable tax policies and lower real estate costs, making it an increasingly attractive destination for major technology companies.<\/p>\n
