LUBBOCK, Texas <\/a>\u2014 As we enter the into the summer months here is what you can expect to see when driving around in Lubbock during June, July and August.<\/p>\n

TxDOT\u00a0said summer construction plans include continued work on ongoing projects all the way through August 2026:<\/p>\n

Woodrow Road\u2014Crews are currently performing earthwork to build up the eastbound lanes (southside). Once that work has been completed the asphalt road surface will be placed. Work on the drainage and driveways also continues. The project is expected to be completed by the end of August. This is a Lubbock County project that\u00a0TxDOT\u00a0is overseeing.<\/p>\n

US 87\/FM 41\u2014The contractor continues to clean-up the work site and preparing for work to begin. Crews will start by building up the southside bridge embankment and pave the northside lanes. You can find project phasing information on the\u00a0TxDOT\u00a0website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Upland Avenue\u2014Traffic signals at 66th Street are expected to come online next week. Paving operations on the southbound lanes are coming to an end. The lanes are expected to be striped and opened to traffic by the end of the month. A pedestrian crosswalk signal at 78th Street is also expected to come online by the end of the month. This project is nearing completion. This is a city of Lubbock project that\u00a0TxDOT\u00a0is overseeing.<\/p>\n

I-27 bridge at Yucca Lane\u2014This project is almost complete. Crews continue to work on the lighting at the Yucca Lane bridge and northbound frontage road. The Yucca bridge and on- and off-ramp bridges are opened to traffic.<\/p>\n

I-27 at rail road bridge\u2014Work to make concrete repairs to the southbound main lanes continues. The traffic barrier is expected to be removed next week and all southbound lanes opened to traffic.<\/p>\n

Upcoming projects include:<\/p>\n

Upland Avenue\u2014Project limits are 82nd Street to 98th Street and will convert the 2-lane roadway into a five-lane facility (two lanes in each direction with a continuous left-turn lane). The project has received bids for construction, but a start date has not been determined, however work is anticipated to begin late-summer. This is a city of Lubbock project that\u00a0TxDOT\u00a0will oversee.<\/p>\n

FM 179\u2014Project limits are US 62\/82 to FM 1585 and will widen the roadway. The project will widen the roadway by adding a continuous left-turn lane, add shoulders, improve drainage and add traffic signals to the US 62\/82 intersection. The project has accepted bids but, no start date has been determined.
