Samsung is leaving New Jersey.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The South Korean tech giant recently notified employees that its U.S. headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey will relocate to Plano, Texas later this year, according to The Asia Business Daily<\/a>. The move affects approximately 1,000 employees currently based at the Englewood Cliffs office, most of whom are expected to relocate to Texas. A small number will remain in New Jersey to support local operations.<\/p>\n

The timing is notable: Samsung moved its U.S. headquarters from its longtime base in Ridgefield Park to Englewood Cliffs just last year. The company is now moving for a second time in two years\u2014and leaving the Garden State altogether.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The relocation is driven by a desire to consolidate Samsung\u2019s U.S. operations around its existing Texas infrastructure. Plano already hosts offices for Samsung\u2019s mobile and network divisions, while the company\u2019s semiconductor plant in Austin and a new foundry in Taylor\u2014currently in its final stages before operations begin\u2014are both in the state. Centralizing the headquarters in Plano would bring Samsung\u2019s corporate leadership physically closer to its largest American investments.<\/p>\n

Texas has become an increasingly attractive destination for major tech companies, offering lower operating costs, favorable tax policies, and a growing semiconductor ecosystem. Tesla and Oracle have made similar moves in recent years.<\/p>\n

Samsung has not announced a specific timeline, but expects to complete the move before the end of 2026. By next year, the tech giant will be gone from its longtime home in New Jersey for good.\u00a0<\/p>\n
