The\u00a0critical and commercial triumph\u00a0of 1995\u2019s \u201cApollo 13\u201d\u00a0solidified \u201cHouston,\u00a0we have a problem\u201d into the cultural\u00a0lexicon\u00a0for better or worse,\u00a0and you can see\u00a0it\u00a0for free at City Place on Friday, July 3\u00a0starting just after 8 p.m.\u00a0Featuring Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon, and Bill Paxton, director Ron Howard\u2019s riveting historical drama masterfully chronicles the real-life struggle to bring three astronauts safely home after a catastrophic explosion.\u00a0We\u2019ll\u00a0supply the\u00a0popcorn;\u00a0you bring the Tang\u00a0and frozen hot dogs.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

On Saturday, July 4, join City Place for a drone show of epic proportions as\u00a0SKYWORKX\u00a0takes hundreds of\u00a0its\u00a0drones to the sky for a stunning display without all the smoke and bangs.\u00a0Your pups will thank you.\u00a0There will be stirring live music from the Houston Ensemble, food vendors galore, and plenty of chances for festive photo moments.\u00a0The fun starts at 7 p.m., and the drones take to the air after the sun goes down.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

There\u00a0are\u00a0only a few more months to experience\u00a0Arc ZERO,\u00a0from\u00a0acclaimed Australian artist James Tapscott, running\u00a0now\u00a0through August 2. The installation features two ethereal, interactive rings of light and mist\u2014Eclipse and Nimbus\u2014positioned\u00a0along the pond system at City Place Park.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0a great chance to cool off from\u00a0a hot summer\u00a0day or just snag your next Instagram masterpiece to make your friends jealous.
