{"id":320048,"date":"2026-06-03T00:50:10","date_gmt":"2026-06-03T00:50:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/320048\/"},"modified":"2026-06-03T00:50:10","modified_gmt":"2026-06-03T00:50:10","slug":"denton-planning-and-zoning-denies-permit-for-major-automotive-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/320048\/","title":{"rendered":"Denton planning and zoning denies permit for major automotive work"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe <a href=\"https:\/\/denton-tx.legistar.com\/DepartmentDetail.aspx?ID=24052&amp;GUID=FDE27C88-1500-4279-BB31-034AFCAE4BC3\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Denton Planning and Zoning Commission<\/a> denied a specific use permit to allow for major automotive repair work to be done at a 2-acre property near the Central Village Estates neighborhood at a May 27 <a href=\"https:\/\/dentontx.new.swagit.com\/videos\/389346\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">meeting<\/a> due to concerns over noise and resident quality of life.<\/p>\n<p>The overview<\/p>\n<p>Body shop <a href=\"https:\/\/lecollisioncenter.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Le Collision Center<\/a> applied for the permit to allow for major auto repair work at the location near Fort Worth Drive since current zoning does not allow for it. The current property is zoned for general office use, which allows for light automotive work, like tire and oil change shops, Denton Assistant Planner Matt Bodine said.<\/p>\n<p>Major automotive repair work includes painting, according to a presentation from Bodine. Painting is a necessary part of body work, the project\u2019s engineer of record Dewey Lewis said at the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPainting would be a central part of the business,\u201d Lewis said. \u201cYou have a car that\u2019s involved in a collision and there\u2019s all kinds of things wrong with it. The frame needs to be straightened out, head lights need to be replaced, tail lights, et cetera.
