A man accused of attempted bank robbery was arrested after a SWAT standoff, says authorities. <\/p>\n
MESQUITE, Texas \u2014 A suspect in an attempted bank robbery was arrested after a SWAT standoff at a Garland motel, police said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Officers responded around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, to information that a suspect wanted in connection with an attempted robbery was staying at a motel in the 200 block of West Interstate 30, the Garland Police Department said in a press release.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The suspect was identified as 56-year-old Billy Jean Stewart of Rowlett. He was wanted in connection with an attempted Dallas bank robbery and was considered armed and dangerous, according to the release.\u00a0<\/p>\n
When officers responded to the scene, they confirmed that Stewart was in the motel room, and after repeated attempts to contact him, the SWAT team was activated.\u00a0<\/p>\n
After several hours, SWAT officers entered the room and took Stewart into custody without injury.<\/p>\n
