Samsung is decamping from New Jersey to North Texas for its U.S. headquarters.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The telecom giant is moving its stateside business operations from Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey to Plano, according to the Korea Times. The transition to the new HQ is expected to be completed by the end of the year, according to the Dallas Business Journal<\/a>, who cited communications with a company spokesperson. Employees were notified on May 29, and further correspondence, which is expected to contain details about layoffs, will come later in the week, per NJ.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It appears that Samsung will be moving everyone to buildings already owned by the company. Samsung operates a corporate office at 6625 Excellence Way, according to NJBIZ.com,<\/a> who cited a corporate spokesperson that said they\u2019ll be moving to their existing campus.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Just nine months ago, Samsung moved into its 325,000-square-foot offices at 700 Sylvan Avenue in Englewood Cliffs, however, the firm\u2019s U.S. headquarters had been in New Jersey for over four decades. Unilever moved out of the same building in 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The move is a massive win for Plano specifically and the Texas Triangle at large. The Dallas suburb also landed the future AT&T <\/a>headquarters, which will span two million square-feet and 54 acres. Samsung operates a semiconductor manufacturer close to Austin\u2019s Tech Ridge, and is investing billions in a plant in outlying Taylor<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The move is likely for the same reasons companies are flooding<\/a> into the Texas Triangle: no state income tax<\/a>, no traditional corporate income tax, and local governance eager to work with corporations.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also the latest in a series of red flags for New Jersey. Assemblyman John Azzariti, R-39th District, who said New Jersey has become less competitive for employers. He also cited ExxonMobil\u2019s decision to move its legal incorporation from NJ to TX, and noted that Mercedes-Benz USA, Hertz, and Honeywell have also departed the state.\u00a0<\/p>\n
