MILLS, County \u2014 A Central Texas man has been charged with 20 counts of Arson in connection with a series of grass and hay field fires that occurred in Mills County earlier this year, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Mills County Sheriff James Jones said Carlo Gossett was arrested and charged after an investigation into multiple fires that were intentionally set during the early months of 2026.<\/p>\n

According to Jones, the fires primarily burned pastureland and hay fields throughout the county. No injuries were reported as a result of the incidents.<\/p>\n

Authorities also believe Gossett may be connected to additional fires in neighboring Brown County, although no charges related to those incidents have been announced.<\/p>\n

Jones said investigators have not determined a motive for the alleged crimes.<\/p>\n

“Gossett gave no reason as to why he allegedly started all the fires,” Jones said.<\/p>\n

Gossett is being held in the Mills County Jail on a $300,000 bond.<\/p>\n
