South Korean electronics giant Samsung has confirmed that it will relocate its U.S. headquarters from Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, to Plano, the home of its flagship North Texas campus. The move could bring with it around 1,000 relocated jobs, according to multiple reports.<\/p>\n

\u201cSamsung Electronics America Inc. is undergoing a business transformation designed to better position our organization for long-term growth and future success,\u201d the company said in a statement. \u201cAs part of this effort, we are relocating our U.S. headquarters from New Jersey to our existing campus in Plano, Texas, building on our 30-year presence in the state.\u201d<\/p>\n

Samsung said the HQ transition will be completed \u201cby the end of the year,\u201d and aims to strengthen alignment across teams and offices while sharpening the company\u2019s focus \u201con the areas that will drive the greatest impact for our customers, partners, and business.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a nod to employees in New Jersey who will be impacted by the move, Samsung said, \u201cAs part of this strategy, we\u2019ll be optimizing parts of the organization to ensure our roles and functions align to key business priorities. We recognize such adjustments will have an impact on our people and we will be providing support to those affected.\u201d<\/p>\n

Employees at the company\u2019s current New Jersey headquarters were informed of the move last Friday, NJ.com reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Samsung\u2019s flagship Plano campus opened in 2019<\/p>\n

Samsung\u2019s new U.S. HQ will be located at its existing Plano campus, according<\/a> to the Dallas Business Journal.<\/p>\n

In 2019, Samsung opened<\/a> its \u201cflagship\u201d North Texas campus in Plano\u2019s Legacy Central business park, relocating teams based in other facilities in Plano and Richardson into one location. \u201cThis move not only provides us with an opportunity to create an improved workplace experience for our Texas-based employees, but truly showcases our continued investment in our Texas roots,\u201d the company said at the time.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In 2023, the company opened a Samsung Networks Innovation Center at its Plano campus.<\/p>\n

Joins AT&T in making big HQ moves to Plano<\/p>\n

The news comes five months after AT&T announced its own planned headquarters move to Plano<\/a> from its current home in downtown Dallas.<\/p>\n

AT&T CEO John Stankey shared renderings<\/a> of the Plano AT&T HQ in April. While Samsung plans to have its headquarters moved by end of this year, AT&T\u2019s Plano HQ isn\u2019t slated for partial occupancy until the second half of 2028.<\/p>\n

Plano is also home to the U.S. headquarters of Ericsson, the Swedish multinational networking and telecommunications company.<\/p>\n
