Waymo&#8217;s fleet is fully active and has officially <a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonchronicle.com\/news\/houston-texas\/transportation\/article\/houston-travel-guide-world-cup-22254792.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">expanded its service in Houston<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what to know about Texas\u2019 new complaint system:<\/p>\n<p>How to file a complaint for a driverless vehicle<\/p>\n<p>On the webpage, people can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.txdmv.gov\/AVprogram\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">fill out a complaint form<\/a> with the company\u2019s name, address, phone number, email and complaint information. Then they will need to fill out the second part with their first and last names, address, phone number and email.<\/p>\n<p>Once completed, they can click the \u201csubmit\u201d button to have state officials review it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>The autonomous vehicle companies with authorizations can be located on the \u201cFind an Operator\u201d page, if needed. On that page, the public can check a company\u2019s complaint history and how many registered vehicles it operates.<\/p>\n<p>WORLD CUP PREP: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonchronicle.com\/news\/houston-texas\/transportation\/article\/waymo-expands-houston-22257003.php\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Waymo expanded self-driving services to more Houston neighborhoods ahead of World Cup<\/a><\/p>\n<p>What happens if a driverless vehicle is unsafe?<\/p>\n<p>If Texas transportation officials determine that vehicles are operating unsafely and endangering the public, they will begin the process of suspending, revoking, canceling or restricting the company&#8217;s authorization, according to the TxDMV website.<\/p>\n<p>How do driverless companies get authorized by the Texas DMV?<\/p>\n<p>Companies that use automated vehicles to transport passengers or property as part of their business must obtain authorization before operating those vehicles on Texas roads. Privately owned vehicles used for personal purposes do not need authorization.<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>To obtain authorization, a company must apply through the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles and certify that its automated vehicles meet state and federal requirements, including compliance with traffic laws, registration and insurance requirements, and certain safety standards.<\/p>\n<p>The company must also provide the Texas Department of Public Safety with a plan explaining how emergency responders should interact with the vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Once an application is approved, the company can manage its list of active vehicles by adding or removing vehicles covered by the authorization.<\/p>\n<p>The authorization does not expire and remains valid unless state officials revoke it. Companies must notify TxDMV within 30 days of any material changes to the information in their application.
