The unfortunate consequence of success is that it requires additional resources. Because El Paso Herald Post has grown significantly over its short existence it has now reached the point where we need to make some somewhat difficult choices regarding the technology we use to keep it alive. Some of you are experiencing issues connecting to the site and we apologize for that. When we relaunched El Paso Herald Post in September, we had planned on slowly growing it over the year, but thanks to all of you it has grown beyond our wildest expectations by a significant amount.<\/p>\n
The traffic (visitors like you) has grown to the point that we are now faced with two choices.<\/p>\n
The first is a band aid approach where we increase resources for a temporary fix, or we bite the bullet and pay for a much more robust server to last a longer time of growth. The temporary fix would solve the growth problem for a few weeks at most, maybe a month, but if the growth continues, we will be faced with having to move everything to a better server environment.<\/p>\n
With that in mind, we are going to begin the process of moving El Paso Herald Post to another server. This, unfortunately, will lead to a longer downtime than we want but it is a necessary step to keeping the site alive over the longer term.<\/p>\n
We expect the migration to be completed by the end of the week. We apologize to all of you for the issues you will face accessing the site in the coming days but, hopefully, it will be worth it when the migration is completed.<\/p>\n
