World Cup fans will soon be descending upon North Texas. Signage is being posted, festival preparations are finalized and players have begun arriving in the United States.

But the cost of a game ticket is not the end of expenses.

With one week to go before the first kickoff in Dallas, it’s time for match attendees to start preparing for the games, not just the players.

Dallas Stadium, renamed from AT&T Stadium for the games, is hosting the most matches of any North American venue, with nine total matches including five group-stage games, two Round of 32 games, one Round of 16 game and the first semifinal match. Each of the stages comes with varying price tags for parking.

“Ticket holders are strongly encouraged to finalize their transportation plans in advance and, where available, consider mass transit options to help ensure a smooth arrival and the opportunity to enjoy the full scope of match-day activities,” said FIFA Senior Media Relations Officer Jhamie Chin.

Planning on driving to the World Cup? Buy your parking pass now. All parking passes must be purchased no later than 24 hours prior to each game. According to the FIFA website, parking “prices will increase 24 hours before match time.” Officials are urging fans to arrive at least 60 to 90 minutes before kickoff.

For group-stage matches, parking pass prices range from about $128 to over $200, with oversized parking prices starting at more than $500. However, the group-stage game between Argentina and Austria, as well as the semifinal match, will cost attendees even more. Passes start at about $178 and go up to more than $250. Oversized parking passes for these games are priced at more than $700.

“Parking prices are determined based on local market conditions and benchmarking against comparable major events previously held in each host city,” Chin said. “Parking prices vary based on supply and demand and overall market conditions.”

FIFA has set the price for parking at all stadiums in every host city during the World Cup. Typically, prices at AT&T Stadium during Cowboys games can range from $25 to $100, depending on the lot. Offering about 12,000 spots near the stadium, overflow parking is also available by neighboring Globe Life Field.

The city of Arlington also allows businesses, schools and churches near the entertainment district to provide additional parking during major events through its Entrepreneurial Parking Program.

“We do not regulate how much a business can charge for a spot, but the program does have other requirements,” said Susan Schrock, managing editor for the city of Arlington’s communications office. “For example, once a price is advertised on an event day, it cannot be changed.”

World Cup fans will soon be descending upon North Texas.
