Bell Textron has announced layoffs and furloughs affecting employees at facilities in Fort Worth, Amarillo and Wichita, according to a company statement.<\/p>\n
The aerospace and defense manufacturer said approximately 285 employees have been impacted by a reduction in force across the three locations. Bell also announced a three-week furlough for certain employees beginning June 15.<\/p>\n
The company did not specify how many of the layoffs or furloughs would affect employees in Fort Worth, where Bell Textron maintains its global headquarters.<\/p>\n
\u201cStaffing decisions like this are difficult, but they are also necessary to align the company to market realities and position it for the long term,\u201d Bell said in its statement.<\/p>\n
Bell, a subsidiary of Textron, designs and manufactures aircraft for military, medical, rescue and transportation uses. The company traces its history to 1935 and describes itself as an aerospace and defense company focused on vertical flight and lift technologies.<\/p>\n
According to a 2025 Bell press release, the company employs approximately 8,000 people worldwide, including about 4,000 employees in Fort Worth. The company is also moving forward with a major manufacturing expansion in AllianceTexas<\/a>, just outside downtown Fort Worth.
