Hobby Airport<\/a> as part of a $30 million project, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fly2houston.com\/airport-business\/newsroom\/articles\/item\/houston-airports-opens-restrooms-as-30m-renovation-continues\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">news release<\/a> from Houston Airports.<\/p>\n<p>The openings are a part of the multiyear initiative\u2014which sparked from a challenge by Houston Mayor John Whitmire in 2024\u2014to modernize the approximately 20-year-old restroom facilities of both of Houston\u2019s airports, per the release.<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s changed?<\/p>\n<p>In the first five months of this year, restrooms near IAH gates A12, A25 and D7 as well as Hobby gates 28-32, per the release. Renovated restrooms in Terminal A baggage claim at IAH are expected to open before the summer.<\/p>\n<p>Restroom renovations include:<\/p>\n<p>Expanded stalls to accommodate carry-on luggageImproved Americans with Disabilities Act accessibilityNew flooring, wall finishes and modern lightingUpgraded fixtures for durability and cleanlinessSmart technology to alert staff of bathroom needsThe $30 million project is supported by $21.6 million of Federal Aviation Administration grants, per the release.<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s next?<\/p>\n<p>The renovations are set to continue in phases through 2027 so bathrooms can still be used by travelers, per the release.<\/p>\n<p>Future improvements will include new family rooms and changing rooms that can accommodate disabled travelers and their companions.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Restrooms have begun to reopen at George Bush Intercontinental Airport and William P.
