{"id":323478,"date":"2026-06-05T03:09:12","date_gmt":"2026-06-05T03:09:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/323478\/"},"modified":"2026-06-05T03:09:12","modified_gmt":"2026-06-05T03:09:12","slug":"watch-man-in-custody-steals-dallas-police-patrol-unit-during-traffic-stop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/323478\/","title":{"rendered":"WATCH: Man in custody steals Dallas Police patrol unit during traffic stop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/kwtx.com\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/kwtx.com\">DALLAS, Texas (KWTX\/CNN Newsource) &#8211;<\/a> A 37-year-old man remains hospitalized after an incident in Dallas involving the theft of a police car, according to police.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Police say Stacey Huffman was pulled over for a traffic stop Saturday evening.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">He was arrested on multiple charges, including possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Investigators said Huffman was handcuffed and placed in the back of a patrol car.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Police say Huffman was able to free his left hand and move into the driver\u2019s seat while officers were outside the vehicle. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">One officer got into the backseat and used a Taser, police said. When that did not stop Huffman, the officer struck him in the head with his weapon, according to police.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Police say Huffman later opened the door and rolled out of the moving vehicle. Both Huffman and the officer were taken to the hospital; the officer has since been released.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Police said Huffman will be officially charged after he is released from the hospital.
