{"id":324350,"date":"2026-06-05T16:52:13","date_gmt":"2026-06-05T16:52:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/324350\/"},"modified":"2026-06-05T16:52:13","modified_gmt":"2026-06-05T16:52:13","slug":"senator-asks-texas-education-agency-for-breakdown-to-explain-hb-2-funding-estimate-gaps-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/324350\/","title":{"rendered":"Senator asks Texas Education Agency for breakdown to explain HB 2 funding estimate gaps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>State Senator Cesar Blanco is asking the Texas Education Agency to provide more clarity on how school funding changes under <a href=\"https:\/\/cbs4local.com\/news\/nation-world\/texas-education-sees-major-changes-as-hundreds-of-new-laws-take-effect\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">House Bill 2<\/a> are affecting local districts, saying some are seeing estimates that don\u2019t match what lawmakers were told during the legislative session.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter to the TEA, Blanco said some school districts in the cities he represents are receiving funding estimates that differ from what was projected while House Bill 2 was being debated.<\/p>\n<p>Blanco is requesting a district-by-district breakdown explaining what factors may be driving the differences, including tax collections, property values, attendance and other variables.<\/p>\n<p>Blanco said districts need clear information as they make budget decisions that affect students, teachers and programs.<\/p>\n<p>Below is Blanco&#8217;s letter:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Texas State Senator Cesar Blanco's letter to the TEA.
