ARLINGTON, Texas\u00a0\u2013 UT Arlington Department of Athletics continued its unprecedented fundraising momentum during the\u00a02025-26 fiscal year, setting a department fundraising record for the\u00a0third consecutive\u00a0year with nearly $5 million raised in support of Maverick student-athletes and programs.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0historic year featured several fundraising milestones, including the\u00a0most gifts of $100,000 or more\u00a0in department history and a record-breaking MavsDay total of $342,429. Since\u00a0the\u00a02022-23 fiscal year, UTA Athletics has increased its annual fundraising total by more\u00a0than 800 percent, while\u00a0major gift giving rose\u00a072 percent from 2024-25 to 2025-26.<\/p>\n

A major catalyst behind the\u00a0record-setting year was a transformational commitment from former Maverick football standout and alumnus J. Ron Young (’67, History), who made\u00a0a $2 million unrestricted pledge\u00a0to UTA Athletics. The\u00a0gift represents the\u00a0largest unrestricted pledge\u00a0in the\u00a0history of the\u00a0department.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Maverick Club serves as the\u00a0fundraising arm of UTA Athletics and provides critical support for student-athlete\u00a0scholarships, facility\u00a0enhancements and operational needs across the\u00a0department’s 15 varsity sports programs.<\/p>\n
