{"id":324943,"date":"2026-06-06T01:34:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-06T01:34:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/324943\/"},"modified":"2026-06-06T01:34:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-06T01:34:09","slug":"one-southeast-texas-community-leading-the-nation-in-foreclosure-filings-report-shows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/324943\/","title":{"rendered":"One Southeast Texas community leading the nation in foreclosure filings, report shows"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao MvWXB TjIXL aGjvy ebVHC \">CLEVELAND, Texas  (KTRK) &#8212; Mortgage foreclosure filings nationwide increased 71.5% from 214,323 in 2020 to 367,460 in 2025, according to data collected by real estate marketing and research firm <a class=\"zZygg UbGlr iFzkS qdXbA WCDhQ DbOXS tqUtK GpWVU iJYzE \" data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/www.attomdata.com\/data\/foreclosure-data\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ATTOM.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">All the top 10 zip codes for foreclosures in the Houston area had more than 500 foreclosures over that period, according to the data.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">The zip code 77327 in Cleveland, Texas, has had 8,189 foreclosures between 2020 and 2025, with an annual average of foreclosures of 1,365, according to <a class=\"zZygg UbGlr iFzkS qdXbA WCDhQ DbOXS tqUtK GpWVU iJYzE \" data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/www.attomdata.com\/data\/foreclosure-data\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">data<\/a> analyzed by the ABC News data team.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">7 of the top 10 ZIP codes for foreclosures in the Houston area are in Harris County, according to the data.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">ABC News&#8217; Senior Manager of Data Team, Mark Nichols, explained some of the issues plaguing people not only in the Houston area but nationwide.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">&#8220;Some of it has to do with rising taxes, property taxes that go into the mortgage payment they make every month. Some of it has to do with buying homes with risky loans,&#8221; Nichols said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Nichols and his team are analyzing 2026 data to see if the trends are continuing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC eTIW sUzSN \">&#8220;I&#8217;ve started to look into 2026 data on foreclosures and the trends we&#8217;ve seen over the 6-year period that we looked at in our analysis through 2025.
