Drivers beware! Another closure could impact your weekend commute. According to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT)<\/a>, the southbound flyover ramp from Loop 1604<\/a> to eastbound Highway 90<\/a> will close for multiple days starting Saturday, June 6 at 9 a.m. It’s expected to reopen on Monday, June 8 at 8 a.m., TxDOT officials say.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The closure is part of TxDOT’s nearly $473 million effort<\/a> to improve mobility and safety along 7.6 miles of highway in West Bexar County. The construction project will stretch from Loop 410 to State Highway 211. The project is part of TxDOT’s Texas Clear Lanes initiative and is designed to address growing traffic congestion in one of San Antonio’s fastest-growing areas.<\/p>\n

The project will widen U.S. 90 from four lanes to six, add a flyover ramp connecting westbound U.S. 90 to northbound Loop 1604, improve intersections at Loop 1604, Montgomery Road and Hunt Lane, and build new turnaround bridges, sidewalks and a roundabout near Ray Ellison Boulevard and Hunt Lane.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Work is being completed in phases, with the first segment between Loop 410 and Loop 1604 expected to finish by 2030. A second phase extending improvements to SH 211 is scheduled to begin in 2027 but remains only partially funded.\u00a0TxDOT estimates traffic along the corridor could more than double to 150,000 vehicles a day by 2045 if growth continues, and says the expansion could reduce future commute times by as much as 90%.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Drivers beware!
