EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 A traffic stop in El Paso on Tuesday led to the arrests of two parents after deputies found a driver they said was intoxicated with two young children in the vehicle.<\/p>\n
At about 12:50 a.m., deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff\u2019s Office stopped a vehicle after it failed to signal before making a left turn and failed to maintain a single lane of travel. <\/p>\n
Deputies identified the driver as 25-year-old Ricardo Rivera and observed signs of intoxication, the sheriff\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n
After standardized field sobriety testing and further investigation, Rivera was arrested for driving while intoxicated. <\/p>\n
He later provided breath specimens that registered a blood alcohol concentration of 0.204, nearly three times the legal limit of 0.08, according to the sheriff\u2019s office.<\/p>\n
Deputies also found two children, ages 2 and 3, inside the vehicle.<\/p>\n
Rivera was taken to the Downtown Detention Facility, where he was charged with driving while intoxicated with a child under 15 years of age and issued a $2,000 bond.<\/p>\n
Deputies also determined the children\u2019s mother, 29-year-old Cynthia Garcia, had allegedly placed the children in imminent danger, the sheriff\u2019s office said. <\/p>\n
Deputies obtained two warrants for abandoning or endangering a child (reckless\/criminal negligence), one for each child. Both warrants were issued with no bond.<\/p>\n
Garcia was later taken into custody and booked into the Downtown Detention Facility. <\/p>\n
The sheriff\u2019s office said it was her second charge for abandoning or endangering a child within the past three months.<\/p>\n
