A 19-story Sheraton Hotel erupted in a cloud of dust as it was demolished Saturday to make room for a third Loews Hotel<\/a> in Arlington\u2019s entertainment district.<\/p>\n

People gathered near the site to get a front row seat to the ground-shaking event.<\/p>\n

Loews has helped transform the city\u2019s entertainment district since it opened the 300-room Live! by Loews hotel in 2019<\/a> near Globe Life Field. In 2024, the company opened the Loews Arlington Hotel and Convention Center.<\/p>\n

City Manager Trey Yelverton believes redevelopment is the future for cities in North Texas like Arlington.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s lots of memories here from ballgames to family experiences to weddings to you name it,\u201d Yelverton said. \u201cLots of history at this site and we\u2019re glad to add to the next chapter, and it\u2019s really the next chapter in a city that recognizes that redevelopment is part of the plan.\u201d<\/p>\n
