Chip Waggoner and family<\/p>\n

Fox 4 traffic guru Chip Waggoner, known in these parts as the Voice of Lake Highlands Football<\/a>, will lead the Exchange Club\u2019s<\/a> annual Fourth of July Parade. His duties as Grand Marshal will be much like his responsibilities each weekday morning on television \u2014 to lead the way, engage the crowd and boost community morale.<\/p>\n

Waggoner has been a neighbor in Lake Highlands for more than 20 years, and he assumed the Boneyard mic following the death of Bob Johnston<\/a>, the much-beloved sports super-fan who called Wildcat football and baseball games for decades.<\/p>\n

Waggoner\u2019s two children are LHHS graduates, and he previously served as the Voice of LH Basketball. He graduated from TCU with a degree in Radio, Television and Film, and he\u2019s written M.I.P. (Miracle in Progress) Discovering the Wonder of God\u2019s Perfect Plan in Our Lives. The inspirational memoir details his soul-searching struggle after he and wife Wendy learned their unborn son would face complex challenges. He admits that, like many parents who receive similar news, his faith was put to the ultimate test. The parade kicks off at 9 a.m. at the corner of Church Road and Green Oaks Drive, traveling westward from North Highlands Bible Church toward Walne Park<\/a> and the Lake Highlands North Recreation Center. There, a family-friendly carnival will offer games, a petting zoo and other free fun.<\/p>\n

Parade participants, including local businesses, community organizations, school groups and sports teams, may register online here<\/a>. The kids\u2019 parade, including decorated wagons, bikes, trikes and scooters, will be judged at 8:30 a.m. in the NHBC parking lot.<\/p>\n
