The utility has said higher revenue is needed for a range of costs including grid modernization, reliability, transmission expansion and rapid load growth in its territory. The rate hikes would result in about $70 million in yearly revenue for the utility. El Paso Electric has requested a final decision by January 1st 2027 when the utility plans to implement new rates.
