A jury delivered the verdict on Tuesday, June 9, according to a report from CNN<\/a>, and they rejected Anthony\u2019s claim that he stabbed Metcalf, 17, in self-defense during their confrontation. Anthony, 19, did not testify during the trial.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred in the bleachers at a track and field event in Frisco, Texas, in April 2025, and the case drew national attention<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Anthony\u2019s legal team argued that he \u201chad an absolute right to defend himself.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAustin Metcalf had no legal right to use force to eject Karmelo Anthony from that tent,\u201d defense lawyer Mike Howard<\/a> said during closing arguments, per the Daily Mail<\/a>. \u201cHe had the right to ask him to leave, but he didn\u2019t have any legal right to use force.\u201d<\/p>\n

Anthony now faces a potential sentence of up to life in prison<\/a>.<\/p>\n
