Julian’s Italian Pizzeria has been serving pizzas, pastas and more in the San Antonio area for the last 20 years<\/a>. Customers who visit the restaurant during lunchtime know that, on top of being tasty and consistent, the eatery also maintains several affordable lunch specials.<\/p>\n

With three San Antonio locations, I decided to venture over to Julian’s on New\u00a0Braunfels Avenue for a Friday afternoon bite. MySA has paid a visit to the Sunset Ridge Center shopping strip before for a story on BOSS Bagels<\/a>, which is just next door. Inside, Julian’s has checkered tile floors, walls covered in family photographs, team memorabilia and a mural of the neighborhood and\u00a0streets surrounding the restaurant.<\/p>\n

Julian’s lunch specials are available\u00a0Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and include a small salad and a drink. Prices range between $8.95 and $14.95 for items like lasagna, Italian subs, spaghetti and pizza. Here, the ordering is done at a front counter, so I approached the cashier and asked to try the two-topping pizza slice combo ($10.95). I was given a number and the freedom to choose my own table after I filled my soda cup with Diet Pepsi.<\/p>\n

First, the fresh garden salad came tossed with a house Italian dressing that tasted pleasantly tangy, so I munched on some leaves and sipped on my soda while I waited for my pepperoni and mushroom slice to be ready. A short while later, the slice arrived, and it was massive. It looked as though they cut a pizza into generous fourths, and I was eating a slice of that. I tackled the pizza little by little until the entirety of the giant slice was eventually down my gullet.<\/p>\n

The pizza slice was impressive, with a flavorful red sauce and plenty of melted cheese to complement the spread of mushrooms and circles of pepperoni. For $10.95, I left feeling like I had eaten an entire pizza and lived to tell the tale. In the end, Julian’s Italian Pizzeria is decidedly a must-try for lunchtime eats that are easy on the wallet.<\/p>\n
