HOUSTON \u2014 Houston artist Jatziri Barron applied to an artist call and was selected to design and paint a mural for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Barron says her mural is a reimagining of art icons as soccer fans, including Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Frida Kahlo and Vincent Van Gogh.<\/p>\n
“I’ve been working till 3, 4 a.m. almost every day. I’m tired, and I can’t wait to finish this. But at the same time, I’m just like, so freaking excited. It’s really amazing when you have a World Cup coming from people all over the world, and they can all relate to someone and some artists here in Houston. It’s an honor.
