Simmons announced the contribution from the El Paso FBI division.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Operation Spring Cleaning is a nationwide initiative directed by the FBI to combat gang-related threats and promote public safety.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The operation coordinated with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and targeted the illegal flow of firearms and narcotics in communities. It began on March 1 and ended on May 31.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI applaud our FBI partners across the El Paso and San Antonio divisions, who have led this<br \/>initiative with the assistance of state and local law enforcement to crack down on the violent crime that infiltrates our communities,\u201d U.S. Attorney Justin R. Simmons said. \u201cIt\u2019s operations like this that reinforce the freedom and liberty we have as Americans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Officials reported that Operation Spring Cleaning resulted in over 1,100 arrests, over 600 charges<br \/>filed, and almost 600 search warrants were conducted nationwide.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The operation also led to the seizure of nearly 1,000 illegal firearms, with dozens of them having been equipped with machine gun conversion devices, and more than 2,700 pounds of illegal narcotics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cDuring Operation Spring Cleaning, FBI El Paso and our Midland Resident Agency worked<br \/>alongside our state, local, and federal partners to surge more resources to address threats posed<br \/>by local gangs towards our neighborhoods,\u201d said Jarod Brown, Special Agent in Charge, FBI El Paso Field Office. \u201cOur gang personnel shared intelligence and participated in operations to<br \/>dismantle the gang\u2019s ability to inflict violent crime on our community.
