CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina is closing locations across Texas and nationwide, including its Corpus Christi restaurant along South Padre Island Drive.<\/p>\n
The company announced it will close all remaining company-owned locations by the end of the day Friday, June 12, 2026, following a recent bankruptcy filing.<\/p>\n
The Tex-Mex chain is known for its mesquite-grilled fajitas, tacos and signature margaritas. The Corpus Christi location is expected to close after Friday.<\/p>\n
In a statement, the company said the decision came after a review of its business operations.<\/p>\n
“On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina has made the difficult decision to move forward with a significant transition in its restaurant operations, which will include the closing of company-owned locations by end of day Friday, June 12, 2026,” the statement said.<\/p>\n
The company said the decision “follows a thorough evaluation of the business and was not made lightly” and that it is evaluating the future of the brand while exploring strategic options.<\/p>\n
“Our immediate focus is on supporting our team members through this transition and ensuring an orderly and respectful closure,” the statement said.<\/p>\n
The company noted that franchise locations in South Dakota, Florida, Nevada, California and South Korea operate independently and will remain open.<\/p>\n
