Richard Wesley and Kasi Currie are set to be teammates again.<\/p>\n
Currie plans to head to the Forty Acres to join Wesley, his former high school teammate in California, after committing to the Texas Longhorns on Thursday in an announcement on the CBS Sports College Football YouTube channel, choosing the Horns over the Georgia Bulldogs, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Oregon Ducks in a no-nonsense decision.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just felt like they really took care of my family,\u201d Currie said. \u201cIt just felt like home.\u201d<\/p>\n
The 6\u20194.5, 313-pounder from Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon took an official visit to Athens at the end of May and to Austin last weekend before deciding to make his pledge ahead of trips planned to Eugene and Columbus.<\/p>\n
Currie held 20 total offers, including Arizona State, Cal, Florida State, LSU, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas A&M, USC, and Washington, among others.<\/p>\n
The Longhorns officially entered Currie\u2019s recruitment last June before getting him on campus for the Junior Day in mid-January and for another visit at the beginning of spring practice.<\/p>\n
An intriguing two-way prospect who could play right tackle or defensive tackle in college, Currie is a consensus four-star prospect ranked as the No. 60 player overall and the No. 6 defensive lineman, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.<\/p>\n
Currie is the 13th pledge for Texas in the 2027 recruiting class, which now ranks No. 17 nationally, and becomes the first defensive line commit in the cycle and the second highest-ranked prospect behind wide receiver Easton Royal.<\/p>\n

Kasi Currie is a two-way player for Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, CA) that is featured both as a defensive tackle and also lines up at right tackle on the offensive side of the ball. Currie was mainly featured on the defensive side of the ball as an underclassmen before beginning log snaps on offense as a junior. Currie is light on production over the past two years (33 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 1 PBU, and 1 INT), but possesses good traits that profile well for playing over the ball at the next level. Currie possesses very good size at his listed 6\u20194.5, 315 pounds and carries his weight well in his frame. Currie possesses a strong lower half that shows up on tape on both sides of the ball as he is able to stalemate blockers as a defender and consistently displace linemen off the LOS as a blocker. Currie has a below average to average get off at the snap of the ball, but has strong hands and uses them well combined with his lower body strength to control and and steer players that he is engaged with. On tape you don\u2019t see him go backwards at all and he is constantly a presence in the middle of the play and as a defender creates opportunities for his teammates with how he is able to occupy space and blockers. I see upside for him as a run defender as an interior defensive tackle, but at this time his upside as a pass rusher is limited based on what I\u2019ve seen him put on tape.
